Dr. William Burgan

Dr. William Michael Burgan survived by his
wife; Debra Burgan, residing in Columbus ga.
Daughter residing in Augusta Ga Emily Railey her husband Jeff Railey
Their childrenVictory Railey, Anderson Railey, 
Son residing in Columbus ga; Will Burgan his wife Chelsea Burgan their children Cori Hart, Kate Hart, and Laban Hart. 
He is also survived by his sister Vicki Burgan and nephew Steve Burgan who reside in Harlan KY.
 Born in Harlan Kentucky the son of Don and Doris Burgan, he worked and studied hard to eventually earn a bachelors in psychology from the University of Montevallo and PhD in Psychology from the University of Alabama. He lived and worked in over 7 states including; Alabama, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Florida, and Colorado. He worked at major universities including Augusta College, St. Mary's University, Clemson University, the University of Central Florida, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Troy University. At each institution he touched the lives of countless people primarily students at University Counseling Centers. He taught at Troy University Graduate School, Phenix City Campus for over 10 years. He was also honored to continue that service as a Psychologist at the Pastoral Institute which combines his two main passions in life Christianity and Psychology.  He always found time to spend with family and serve in his church at Crawford Methodist Church as both Sunday School Teacher and Lay Minister. After a long day of work he fell ill at home on March 23rd. He was taken to St Francis Hospital and on June 11th transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. After 3 majors surgeries over 7 months he fought to return to his life and family. However after complications he eventually succombed to his accumulated injuries at Columbus Hospice.
