Willie Mae Fuller, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in her home of Columbus, Georgia. Born on January 11, 1931, in the same welcoming town, she was a beacon of warmth and caring throughout her 93 years.
Mrs. Fuller was the cherished daughter of the late Lewis James Fuller and Lizzie Ree McDowell Fuller. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family, including her brothers Jerry Fuller and Lewis James "Bud" Fuller, Jr., both of whom predeceased her. The values instilled in her during her early years were reflected in the life she led—a life marked by kindness, generosity, and the simple joys of home and family.
A proud graduate of Jordan High School, Mrs. Fuller embraced the role of homemaker with grace and dedication. Her hands were rarely still, often busy with crossword puzzles or indulging in her love for junk food, with a particular fondness for candy. Yet, it was in the kitchen where her talents truly shone, as she was renowned for her masterful fried apple pies and homemade biscuits—a legacy of taste and tradition cherished by all who had the pleasure of enjoying them.
Mrs. Fuller's heart was as abundant as her kitchen was welcoming. She will be remembered for her selfless nature, always taking in and caring for others. Her thoughtful spirit extended beyond her own walls, touching the lives of many who came to know her as a second mother and a steadfast friend.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she leaves behind a loving legacy in her devoted children: Marcia Sue Johnson, Jack Turner (married to Heidi Racioppo), and Jeannette Cotton (married to Tom). Her life was further enriched by the joy and laughter of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the memories of their beloved matriarch.
Mrs. Fuller faced the loss of her son, Robert Lewis Turner, with the same strength and grace that characterized her life. She also bade farewell to her son-in-law, Howard Johnson, who was warmly remembered as part of her extended family.
In honor of her memory, Mrs. Fuller's life will be celebrated in a service that reflects the love and warmth she shared so freely. Her final resting place will be in Columbus, Georgia, the town she held dear throughout her life, and where she will be laid to rest among the generations of her family.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home from 12:00pm until 1:00pm, A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm from Riverdale Cemetery.
