William Vernice "Bobby" Overstreet, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2024, in Columbus, GA, at the age of 66. Born on December 14, 1957, in Tifton, GA, Bobby was a man whose presence brought warmth and joy to every room he entered.
Bobby was predeceased by his loving parents, Quillie V. Overstreet, Jr. and Vera Mae Overstreet, as well as his brothers, David Nathaniel Overstreet and Samuel Wyatt Overstreet. His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Beate Overstreet, his children, Jason Rosel, Vera Mae Overstreet (Curt), and David Overstreet (Alysa), and his brother Quillie Veral Overstreet. His sister, Julie Overstreet Johnson (Clarence), his nephew Blake, nieces Vicki, Jessica, and Ashley, and his close confidant, Ric Bell, who was like a brother to him, will also hold Bobby's memory in their hearts, along with many cousins and friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bobby proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his service, he embarked on a career as a truck driver, a job that allowed him to explore the country he loved while providing for his family.
A man of simple pleasures, Bobby found joy in the quiet moments. He was an avid fan of Westerns, M*A*S*H, and Hogan's Heroes, which he would watch with a contented smile. His love for puzzles, word searches, and trivia games was well-known, as was his passion for riding around, taking in the sights and sounds of the world around him.
Bobby's pride and joy were undoubtedly his family. He was a constant presence at school events, volunteering his time and energy whenever his children were involved. His love for his family was evident in every action he took, and the time he spent with them was what he cherished most in life.
Those who knew Bobby would describe him as loving and friendly, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His ability to connect with people was remarkable, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bobby's life will be honored Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 10:30 AM ET at Bush Road Emanuel Holiness Church in Phenix City, AL with Pastor Steve Newsome officiating.
