Whitney Ann Willis Nelson

Whitney Ann Willis Nelson, 35, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM EST at Cascade Hills Church, 727 54th Street, Columbus, Georgia 31904 with Pastor Adam Churchwell officiating.

Whitney was born May 31, 1987 to the late, William Dozier Willis, Jr. and Kimberly Ammons Bentley in Columbus, Georgia. She received her Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and worked at Goodwill as a work force development specialist. Whitney loved going to Church and was a member at Cascade Hills Church. She enjoyed watching Auburn, spending time with her nieces and her beloved dog, Rascal. Whitney is preceded in death by her father, William Dozier Willis, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Nancy C. Ammons and Bobby Ray Ammons, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Evelyn Watson and William Dozier Willis, Sr.

Surviving are her husband, Matthew Nelson; mother, Kimberly Ammons Bentley; sister, Abby Willis (James Smith) and her daughters, Landry Sims and Paisley Smith; mother-in-law, Lafawn Nelson; father-in-law, Lonny Nelson; sister-in-law, Ashley Nelson and her daughter, Rylee Smith; uncles, Bobby Ammons (Tomi) and Andy Willis (Sherri); aunt, Kim Carter; grandmother, Carol Ammons; cousins, Cam Willis, Colby Willis, Erin Stanton, Joshua Blake Carter, and Cameron Carter; many other extended family, loved ones, and friends.
