Walter “Wally” Lee Carpenter, Sr., 67, of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 in Phenix City, Alabama. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM ET at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Roy Williams officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Carpenter was born November 21, 1954 to the late, James C. Carpenter and Mary Gladys Gregory in Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, loved his family, and listening to his grandchildren. Mr. Carpenter enjoyed collecting knives, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his beloved four-legged best friend, Romeo.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Sharon Carpenter; two sons, Walt Carpenter (Gina) and Grant Carpenter (Charity); one daughter, Rachel Hardy (Lance); nine grandchildren, Abby Carpenter, Tre Carpenter, Avery Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Zachary Carpenter, Chloe Carpenter, Olivia Carpenter, Nicholas Carpenter, and Conrad Hardy; one sister, Rita Dones; one brother, Alan Carpenter; many nieces and nephews.
