He was born on October 29, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, and throughout his life he carried the values of hard work, integrity, and quiet dedication that shaped both his career and the many relationships he built along the way.
Thomas was a devoted Civil Engineer for the Federal Government. He approached his work with a steady hand and a thoughtful mind. Thomas was also a man who valued companionship. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Fanning of Phenix City, Alabama, who shared in his life and stood beside him through the years. Their bond reflected devotion, loyalty, and the kind of partnership that grows stronger through time. Together, they built a life marked by shared memories, mutual care, and enduring love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Fanning, whose influence remained an important part of his life. Thomas’s life was one of purpose and steadiness. Thomas Riley Fanning will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
