Stacey Dunlap Williamson, a beacon of kindness and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia. Born on February 6, 1959, Stacey's life was a testament to her unwavering passion for her family, her community, and the many pets she adored throughout her years.
Stacey's journey began in Columbus, where she was embraced by the love of her family and the community that she would one day serve with great dedication. Her life was a shared adventure with her beloved husband of 40 years, Allen Ray Williamson. Together, they built a legacy of love and commitment, a foundation from which their children, Benjamin Franklin Tyndall and Michael Anthony Williamson (married to Rachel), could grow and thrive.
She was a sister to Ronald Dunlap (Donna), Joseph Dunlap, and David Dunlap (Laura), sharing with them the bonds of childhood and the joys and sorrows of life. Her great aunt, Sandra Gazaway, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, were also a significant part of Stacey's life, each of them carrying a piece of her spirit into the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, James "Bill" and Sally Dunlap; and a brother, Donald Dunlap.
For 12 years, Stacey dedicated herself to the care of animals as an employee at Petsmart. Her love for all creatures great and small was evident in every aspect of her work, and her gentle, caring nature left a lasting impression on both her colleagues and the many pets she nurtured. Beyond her professional life, Stacey was a devoted homemaker and a fierce advocate for children, always ready to support and guide the next generation.
Her commitment to her faith was reflected in her years of involvement with the Temple Baptist Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and a community of like-minded individuals who shared her values and beliefs. Stacey's interests were a mirror of her generous heart. She held a special place for dogs, never missing an opportunity to express her love for her canine companions.
Her community involvement extended to the East Columbus Youth Baseball, where she cheered and encouraged young athletes, and to the Cub Scouts, where she served as a Den mother, shaping the lives of countless young scouts with her wisdom and patience.
Stacey's life was one of giving, and even in her final days, the compassion of others shone brightly upon her. The nursing staff and Dr. Michael Metry at Saint Francis Hospital MSICU unit provided her with exceptional care, a kindness that her family will forever be grateful for.
The family will greet friends Monday, December 16, 2024, from 10:30-12:00 at Colonial Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 1:30 pm at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
