Sheila Dyes Obituary

Sheila Layvette Dyes, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Butler, Georgia, at the age of 74. Born on April 16, 1950, in Landrum, South Carolina, Sheila's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she found in the simplest pleasures of life.

Sheila, the beloved wife of Larry Lee Dyes for 56 remarkable years, was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. Her wisdom, laughter, and kind-hearted nature will be dearly missed by her children Yolande Dykes, Andre Lee Dyes, Dana Carol Ammons, Christopher Bryan Dyes, Suzanne Elizabeth Dyes, and Brandon Lee Dyes. Sheila's legacy of love continues to flourish through her adored grandchildren, Rodney Andrew Denson, Ryan Lee Denson, Brittany Walker, and the many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom were touched by her generous soul.

In her professional life, Sheila was a respected figure in the world of retail clothing management, where she dedicated many years to her career. Her colleagues knew her as a woman of integrity, determination, and compassion, qualities that made her a natural leader and a trusted mentor to many.

Sheila's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a woman who embraced life with both hands. Her gardens were a riot of color, reflecting her love for gardening flowers. She could often be found with her hands in the soil, tending to her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her family. Fishing was another of Sheila's passions, a pastime where she found tranquility and joy in the simplicity of nature. Her culinary skills were legendary, and family gatherings were never complete without Sheila's home-cooked meals, which brought everyone together around the table.

An avid collector of frogs, Sheila's whimsical hobby brought smiles to the faces of those who knew her best. Her collection was a symbol of her unique personality and her ability to find happiness in the little things.

As we bid farewell to Sheila Layvette Dyes, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the love she so freely gave. Her laughter, her wisdom, and her gentle presence will be forever etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

In accordance with her wishes, Sheila's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
