Selmer Norman Urness, Jr., affectionately known as Butch or PeeWee, 77 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away January 31, 2021 at Piedmont Healthcare in Columbus, Georgia Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home, at 11:00am ET with Rev. Jack Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00-11:00am ET prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with honors.
"Butch", as affectionately called by his family was born December 11, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of the late Selmer Norman Urness, Sr. and Lucille Irene Brown Urness. "PeeWee", as called by his co-workers was retired from Swift Spinning Mills as a loom fixer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, he loved fishing, playing cards, watching tv, yardwork, drinking coffee and smoking cigars.
Mr. Urness is survived by his wife Mary, his children, Norman Kaye Urness (Lisa D. Bowman,); Connie Tidman (Rusty Grimes); Troy Mitchell Urness ( DeLanya) and Desiree Burkett ( David); 23 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
