Rodney "Pete" Watson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Slocomb, Alabama, on March 20, 1951, to loving parents Thollie and Nelma Sellers Watson, Pete's life was a testament to the value of hard work, family, and faith.
Pete began working at the tender age of 18. His dedication and work ethic were apparent to all who knew him, and he retired with the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was a Union Member of the Local 52 out of Montgomery. Alabama, for plumbers, steam fitters and welders. Pete's commitment to his job was only surpassed by his commitment to his family and his love for the great outdoors.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Pete found solace in the serenity of nature. His happiest moments were often spent in the quiet company of woodland and water. His love for these activities was a passion he shared with friends and family, creating memories that would last for generations.
Pete was a devout member of the Evansel Temple. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence and provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life.
Left to honor Pete's memory is his beloved spouse, Debbie Cherry Watson, his daughters, Kristen Thomas (Mikel), and Kim Watson, and his stepsons, Todd Watson, and Troy Watson (Ashley). Pete's legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Ashlyn Hudson, Caleb Camp, Johnathan Collins, and Keigan Phillips, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia Hudson, Willow Hudson and Scarlett Hudson. He also leaves behind his siblings, Johnny Watson, Mack Watson, and Janice Ward, who will miss his guidance and companionship.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Thollie and Nelma Sellers Watson, and his sister, Judy Talbot. Their reunion in eternity is a comforting thought for all who mourn his passing.
Pete's life was a rich tapestry woven with the love of his family, the respect of his peers, and the beauty of the natural world he so adored. Pete's story does not end with his passing but lives on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
As we bid farewell to Rodney "Pete" Watson, we celebrate a life well-lived and a journey well-traveled.
