Robert Colonel Green, age 81, of Salem, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025.
Robert was born in West Point, Georgia, to Henry Green and Hazel (Fallin) Green. He was well known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and remarkable ability to fix just about anything.
He retired as a Central Office Installer with Lucent Technologies. Robert also proudly served 4½ years in the United States Army National Guard, honoring his country with dedication and integrity.
Robert had a lifelong passion for fixing and restoring mechanical and electrical items for friends, family, and neighbors. His grandchildren would often proudly say, “Granddaddy can fix anything!” His willingness to help others, combined with his humor and patience, made him someone people relied on and deeply respected.
He was known as a hardworking, compassionate, funny, and devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.
Robert is survived by his children Kim Gibbs, Gene Richmond (Beth), and Angie Smiley (Jon); his grandchildren Skyler Gibbs, Aiden Smiley, Ava Smiley, and Emma Smiley; and his brother Randy Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hazel Green, his sister Sandy Garner, and his brother Jerry Green.
A celebration of life will be held at his home, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a man whose love, skill, and kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
