Robert Keith Carter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Phenix City, Alabama, at the age of 53. Born on November 8, 1971, in Asheboro, North Carolina, to Hugh Lavell and Lucy Goodroe Carter, Robert's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the joys of Southern life.
Robert's amiable personality and friendly demeanor made him beloved by all who knew him. He carried this warmth throughout his life, creating a legacy of kindness and camaraderie that will be dearly missed.
Robert found companionship in his loving wife, Mary Carter. Together they built a life rich with love, laughter, and the shared joy of raising their two daughters, Taylor Carter and Brittani Moore (Gary). His grandson, Gary Allen, added a new dimension of joy to Robert's life.
Robert's dedication to his family was matched by his commitment to his profession. As a skilled Heating/Air Electrician HVAC, he was not only adept at ensuring the comfort of others through his work but also took pride in being a reliable and respected member of his industry.
Beyond his work, Robert had a zest for life that was evident in his diverse interests. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and wrestling, passions that he shared with friends and family alike. His love for cooking out, especially seafood, was well-known, as he often played the role of the master chef at family gatherings. His favorite tunes by James Taylor could frequently be heard as the backdrop to many of these cherished moments.
Lighthouses held a special place in Robert's heart, symbolizing guidance and steadfastness, much like his own role in the lives of those he loved. His family and friends will fondly remember the happy times spent by his side, whether at a race track, on a sunny beach, or simply enjoying a meal together.
Robert's journey through life was marked by the joy he brought to others, and his memory will be treasured by his surviving family members. His devoted wife, Mary, his daughters, Taylor and Brittani, his adored grandson, Gary Allen, and his siblings, Larry Carter (Marsha), Charles Carter (Doris), Hugh Carter (Theresa), and Dianne Clark (Brian), will hold his spirit close to their hearts.
He joins in eternity his parents, Hugh Lavell and Lucy Goodroe Carter, and his brothers, Greg Carter and Paul Carter, who preceded him in death. Robert's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the love he gave, and the light he shone on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort those he left behind.
