Richard Earl Upton

Richard Earl Upton, 62, of Smiths, Alabama passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at 9:00 AM ET at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama with Pastor Seth Hon officiating.

Mr. Upton was born August 30, 1958 to Edmond Earl Upton and Gladys Brown in Phenix City, Alabama. He worked as a mechanic, enjoyed fishing, grilling and working on cars with his son. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Duell.

Surviving are his loving wife, Louise Upton; two sons, Richard Upton, Jr. and John Edmond Upton; four grandchildren, Shanna Upton, Kaitlyn Upton, Rayleigh Upton and Wyatt Upton; two great-grandchildren, Lane and Easton; two sisters, Marilyn Moore and Diane Graves; many friends and cousins.
