Mr. Callahan was born November 26, 1963 to, Edgar Bowyer Callahan and Corina Bowls Grimmett in Oakhill, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his father and step-father, Garman Grimmett.

Richard attended the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene in Oak, Hill, WV for 32 years. Richard played little league as a young boy but found his love of golf at a very young age. He took a drafting course at the vocational school where he graduated with a certificate in drafting. Richard worked part time in one of his dad’s grocery stores, the Midget Market, during high school along with his sisters - Dee Dee, Cathy and Sue. Upon graduation he worked at Ohio Brass in the drafting department. After the death of his father, Eddie Callahan, Richard took over his dad’s pet store, Pinnacle Pet Supply. In June of 1989, he was blessed with a daughter, Courtney. When Courtney was 6 months old, he moved to GA. Once settled in Ga, he became the manager at Sears All America Termite and Pest Control. In 1996 he married his beloved wife, Stephanie. Richard endured many years of health complications due to his history of diabetes but always remained optimistic and kept the hope that he would one day have more children. In 2001, Richard and Stephanie welcomed a brilliant baby boy, Richard Andrew Callahan Jr (aka Andy). Richard was always a very involved father who always put his children first, which sparked his love and passion for the many other children in his community. He had a true love for the game of golf and what it instilled in the countless children whose lives he touched through Fore Kids Columbus. In 2016 his daughter welcomed his first grandchild, a girl, Kamdyn. In 2021 a second granddaughter was born named Kenna. Richard loved his granddaughters ‘almost’ as much as his grand pup Jaxon Turner Fowler.

Surviving is his wife, Stephanie Callahan; daughter, Courtney Fowler (Dustin); son, Richard Andrew Callahan, Jr.; mother, Corina Grimmett; grandchildren, Kamdyn Fowler and Kenna Fowler; sisters, Dee Dee Janney (John), Cathy Joines (Bryan) and Sue Puckett (William); nieces and nephews, Katie Janney, Jeffery Janney, Angie Surface, and John Puckett III; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
