Peggy Jo Kite, a beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 75. Born on October 11, 1949, in Tallassee, Alabama, Peggy's life was a testament to the power of unwavering faith and the warmth of a loving heart.
Peggy, known affectionately as "Peggy" to her friends and family, was the cherished daughter of the late Joe Alford Weldon and Bessie Keahey Weldon. She grew up in a home filled with love alongside her siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Her commitment to family was a defining trait, a legacy she continued from her parents and carried on through her own lineage.
She was a loving sister to Cheryl Rozanski (Ed) and Keith Weldon, and a caring sister-in-law to Randy McGee. Peggy was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jamie Kite, and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe Kite, her adored son, Kyle Kite, and her brother, Steven Weldon, and sister, Carol McGee. Her nurturing spirit extended to her nieces and nephews, Laura Weldon, Shannon Castle (Alex), Kelsey Taylor (Craig), and Lauren Brinks (Jon), as well as to her great-nieces and great-nephews, who will remember her fondly.
Peggy's professional life was marked by dedication and compassion. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills (Pillowtex) in the finishing department, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. Her caring nature led her to TSYS daycare, where she served as a sitter for the needy, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around her. Her community involvement was further evidenced by her active membership in the Faith Temple Assembly of God, where she found great joy in sharing her faith in Jesus with everyone she met.
A fervent Alabama football fan, Peggy's enthusiasm for her team was matched only by her love for sharing her faith. Those who knew her will recall the bright light she shone in their lives, her faith-filled conversations, and the loving guidance she provided to all who were blessed to cross her path.
Peggy's life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She faced life’s challenges with grace and strength, always trusting in the Lord to guide her way.
The words that best describe Peggy are faith-filled and loving. She embodied these qualities in every aspect of her life, from the gentle way she spoke to the kind acts she performed. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a joy, and her guidance a steady force for good.
Peggy Jo Kite's legacy is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a kindness that touched the hearts of many. Her memory will live on in the values she instilled in her family, the friendships she nurtured, and the lives she touched with her generous spirit.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 12:00 pm est at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
