Pastor Freddie Johnson Obituary

Pastor Freddie Andrew Johnson, a devoted servant of God and a beacon of hope to many, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on October 30, 1961, Freddie's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and his commitment to spreading kindness and love. Born in Columbus, Georgia, Freddie’s heart always lived in Alabama; he was Crimson Tide through and through.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Sandra Leticia Mendoza Johnson, who was his partner in both life and ministry. He leaves behind  a son, Joshua Johnson and daughter Valeria Arias Mendoza, who continue to embody their father's legacy of generosity and compassion. Freddie was also a proud grandfather to Ace Johnson, who brought immense joy to his life. His mother, Sarah Martha (Cone) Wilson, will cherish the memories of her son's kind heart, as will his siblings, Tim Johnson and Tammy Scarborough, along with a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins who felt his love and guidance. Freddie was preceded in death by his father, James Curtis Johnson, and his brother, James Curtis Johnson Jr., both of whom he held in great esteem. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandfather Rev. Freddie Alfred Cone.

For 44 years, Pastor Johnson dedicated his life to ministry, serving currently as the beloved pastor of Fairview Baptist Church. His journey in faith took him to serve at many places including; World Vision Center, Columbus Christian Center, and alongside his brother at Sons of Thunder. He provided spiritual nourishment and support to those at the Valley Rescue Mission and the Cross Roads. His ministry was not confined to the pulpit; Freddie lived his mission through numerous missionary trips to Africa, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and across the United States. It was on one of these life-changing trips to El Salvador that he met his soulmate, Sandra.

Freddie's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him to live a life of service, kindness, and generosity. His legacy is not only etched in the institutions he served but also in the hearts of the countless individuals he touched. He was a man who truly walked by faith, and his actions spoke louder than words. He led by example, showing others the transformative power of a faith-filled life.

His interests went beyond his religious commitments; he was a man who cherished the simple moments, the laughter of his grandchild, and the fellowship of his community. Pastor Freddie Andrew Johnson was a kind soul, a generous spirit, and a steadfast believer in the power of faith.
