Melvin Edward Smith

Melvin Edward Smith, 83, of Seale, Alabama died Thursday, June 24, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be held via zoom Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM ET, anyone wishing to view services please contact the family.

Mr. Smith was born April 3, 1938 in Stonington, Illinois to the late J. B. Smith and Margaret Mildred Shake Smith. He retired from the U. S. Navy with 20 years service in 1978, retired from the University of California nuclear research team security, and was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dennis Smith and Carl Smith.

Surviving are his wife of  56 years, Judith Pierce Smith; children, Kristen Davis (Ronald) of Sacramento, CA and Tracy Smith (Vicki) of Phenix City, AL; 4 grandchildren, Seth Ransom, Dylan Smith, Tyler Smith, and Christopher Hutto; a sister, Carol Copeland; 2 brothers, William Smith and Jimmy Smith.
