Maryann Duckett Obituary

Maryann Crochet Duckett, a beacon of love and warmth in the lives of those who knew her, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Salem, Alabama. Born on January 19, 1954, in Ft. Benning, Georgia, to SSG. Gus Crochet and Hildegard Crochet, Maryann's life was a tapestry of family, work, and interests that touched many hearts.

She shared a beautiful journey of 30 years with her beloved spouse, Robert Duckett, creating a home filled with laughter and love. Maryann's legacy of love continues through her five children: Ross Marshall Jr. (Alice), Deanna Marshall, Patricia Barberi (Tony), Helen Marshall, and Leah Duckett. She was a cherished grandmother to Mary Garrette (Everett), Princton Ford, Hollie Hutto (Bruce), Ashlea Loveland (Brad), and Autumn Cushing. Her joy was multiplied with the birth of her great-grandchildren: Grayson, Eryn, James, Summer, Ansley, Lyla, and Logan.

She also leaves behind her beloved cousin and best friend Peggy Daigle. They shared countless memories and inside jokes including “wishy, washy”.

Maryann was a sister, friend, and confidant to her brother, Marvin Crochet (Esther). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the countless friends she made throughout her life. She now joins her late parents, Gus and Hildegard Crochet, and her sister, Christine Mitchell, in eternal rest.

Maryann's professional life was as diverse and robust as her personality, having worked both as a meticulous dry cleaner and as a dependable armored truck driver. Her work ethic and dedication to her crafts were admired by all who worked alongside her.

Her passions were as vibrant as her character. An avid baker, Maryann created delectable treats that brought joy to family gatherings. Her crafting skills were unmatched, and her hands lovingly produced countless treasures. A gardener at heart, she nurtured her plants with the same care and affection she showed her family. She could often be found enjoying the melodies of the 50s and 60s, which were the soundtrack to Maryann's life.

Maryann's Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where loved ones will gather to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on this world. Special thanks are extended to Columbus Hospice and BJ Thompson for their compassionate care during her final days.

Maryann Crochet Duckett lived a life full of purpose, love, and joy. Her spirit, encapsulated in the memories she leaves behind, will continue to inspire and guide us. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, her love remains, a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
