Mary Louise Brown Self, 76, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Friday, September 24,2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM ET at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Stanley Collins officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama. The family requests that masks be worn while inside the building and adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Mrs. Self was born September 24, 1945 in Columbus, Georgia to the late, Sammie Spencer Brown and Mary Lou McFarland Brooks. She worked as a weaver at Fieldcrest Mills for over 20 years and was a school bus driver for Lee County since 1974, where she retired. Mrs. Self was a member of Christian Heritage Church and enjoyed painting. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Self; three sisters, Joyce Johnson, Dorothy Hall, and Donna Brown; six brothers, Edward Brown, Bobby Brown, Harold Brown, Billy Brown, Sammie Brown, and Kenneth “Ken” Brown.
Surviving are her children, Teresa (Michael) Jordan, John Hammock (Becky Wade), and Donnie Hammock; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis Brown.
