Mary Ella Roop

Mrs. Mary E. Roop 88, passed away Thursday March 25, 2021 at The Retreat at Loganville.  Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 27, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Art Ayris officiating.  Burial will be private at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Saturday March 27, 2021 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Mrs. Roop was born October 21, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio to the late August and Christina Ayris.  Mrs. Roop married CWO Frank Roop in April of 1953 who preceded her death on January 29, 1966 in Vietnam. She retired as a bookkeeper at Davis Sporting Goods.  A member of St. Mark Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a volunteer with Vista Care Hospice.  She also was a member of the Gold Star Wives.    

Mrs. Roop is survived by her children Carolyn McClanahan of Hope Mills, North Carolina.  Linda (Kenneth) Grimsley of Mauk, Georgia.  Julie (Paul) Blair Bethlehem, Georgia.  Grandchildren Shondra (Ward) Odom of Box Springs, Georgia.  Shane (Katie) Grimsley of Hamilton, Georgia.  Ashley Blair, Andrea Blair, Andrew Blair of Bethlehem, Georgia.  Five Great Grandchildren.
