Martha Rose Davis Obituary

Martha Rose Lee Davis, age 78, of Phenix City, Alabama, joined her beloved husband in heaven on March 2, 2021 at 8:25 a.m. Martha was born on October 21, 1942 to the late James Oscar Lee and Dolly Louise Lee of Eufaula AL. Along with her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Young Jesse Davis Jr, her daughter Tonya Davis Malady and her son-in-law, Michael B. Fuller.

Martha, affectionately known as Nunna, leaves behind her dear brother, Randy Lee, in addition to her daughters and their spouses: Keith & Lisa Cross, Charlie & Marie Hoots, Jon (Tonya) Malady, Brian & Tamara Hightower and Eddie & Misti Miles; eleven grandkids: Danielle Winters (Jesse), Kaitlyn Roberson (JD), Bruce Fuller (Haley), Monty Fuller, Jonathan Malady, Jessica Malady, Ryan Richards, Trevor Richards, Jenna Hightower, Blake Miles and Lance Miles; and three great grandkids: Alec & Amara Richards and Camrie Roberson. Martha will also be greatly missed by her nieces, cousins and friends.

Martha spent many years working various jobs but most fondly remembered her years spent working as a Receptionist at H&R Block during income tax season each year. She also enjoyed many years of baby-sitting her grandkids (and others who were “like grandkids”). When not working, Martha loved to spend her time volunteering at her kids (and grandkids) schools working with the PTA or assisting with the band boosters or girl scouts or whatever activities in which her girls were involved.

Martha was very talented and always participating in the latest craft projects. She loved to share her projects with others - especially in the form of lovingly crocheted afghans or baby blankets or silk flower arrangements for the many weddings and showers that she helped to host. Most of all, Martha spent her time working with her church – dedicating many years of service at Seale Road Baptist Church where she taught “Beginners” Sunday School for many years; organized and led Children’s Church services and led Vacation Bible school for many years. In her later years she served faithfully at United Baptist Church where she led Vacation Bible School and served as Sunday School Director. Due to health issues, Martha spent her last year living at the Parkwood Health Care Facility where she was crowned “Ms. Parkwood, 2020”. Never shy about meeting new people, Martha enjoyed the company of other residents while working with crafts or just visiting to make them feel loved. Martha was cherished for her helpfulness and her spunky personality and will be lovingly remembered for all of the lives that she touched here on earth.

The funeral for Martha’s family and close friends will be Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 11:00am ET with Rev Donnie Brown officiating.
