Marguerite Hodge Obituary

Helen Marguerite Hodge, affectionately known as Marguerite to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on April 14, 1948, in Marion County, Georgia, Marguerite was a beacon of love and generosity to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Marguerite's life was one of devotion and joy, beginning with her cherished upbringing by her parents, Hoke Smith Garrett and Sara Alma Scott. She later found the love of her life, Clayton "Sonny" Hodge, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. Marguerite's legacy continues through her beloved husband, her two sons, Greg Hodge (Victoria) and Kevin Hodge (Skyla), her adored grandchildren, Clay, Cameron, Sara, Kaitlyn, and Jasmine, and her caring siblings, Annette Grimsley, Linda Jackson, and Jerome Garrett (Ann). Her parents and siblings, Bill Garrett and Dot Smith, preceded her in death.

Marguerite was an active and cherished member of the Unity Baptist Church, where she found great comfort and community. She was known for her incredible ability to remember important dates and events, a testament to her attentiveness to the lives of those around her.

Marguerite's interests were a reflection of her vibrant personality. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Westerns on TV provided her with endless entertainment, while her love for coffee and cooking brought warmth to many gatherings. Always up for a conversation, whether it be through talking or texting, Marguerite never missed an opportunity to connect with people. She took pleasure in simple joys, such as visits to the nail salon, where her favorite color red often adorned her nails. Her love for hotdogs, red birds, country and gospel music, particularly the tunes of Luke Bryan, filled her home with happiness. Marguerite's generous spirit shone brightly as she enjoyed helping others, offering support and kindness wherever she went.
