Louis Ripley McClain, age 76, of Salem, Alabama passed away Thursday August 17, 2023, in Columbus, Georgia. Memorial services will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama with military honors.
Mr. McClain was born March 19, 1947, to Gus Ripley McClain and Bernice Gail McClain in San Marcos, Texas. He proudly served as a member of the United States Army serving in Vietnam from 1964 until 1967 receiving two Purple Hearts and several other awards and commendations. After his military service career, he became a truck driver. Mr. McClain was a man's man and loved food. He enjoyed craft beers, ales and Yuengling. He liked traveling, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Lexi. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann McClain. Surviving are his children, Matthew McClain (Nikki), Dawn Martin, Kenneth McClain, Shanna Whitley (William), Jesse McClain, Marcus McClain, Tamara Hartley, John Ford, Patti Thompson, James Martin; and Denise McClain; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
