Lisa Schaetzer Obituary

Lisa Schaetzer, age 52, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Phenix City. She was born on May 10, 1973, in Columbus, Georgia, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, kindness to others, and a warm spirit that touched many hearts.

A Funeral Service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday,  April 30, 2026 at 12PM EST with Visitation preceding at 11AM EST.

Lisa was the beloved wife of Ronnie Schaetzer, and the two shared nearly 35 years of marriage filled with love, loyalty, and enduring companionship. Their marriage stood as a true partnership, built on shared memories, unwavering support, and a deep bond that remained strong through every season of life. Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the comfort of family.

She is also survived by her son, Jesse Schaetzer and his wife Candice, who brought her great pride and joy. Lisa cherished her role as a mother and took great happiness in watching her family grow. She is further survived by her brother, Brian Smith, as well as numerous extended family members who will remember her with affection and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and June Smith, whose memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Lisa will be remembered for her generous nature and her love of caring for others. She was a devoted volunteer with the East Alabama Humane Society and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Her compassion for creatures great and small reflected the tenderness and loyalty that defined so much of who she was. She found joy in being around animals and gave her time and energy freely to causes that reflected her love for them.

Throughout her life, Lisa enjoyed skating, an interest that began in her youth and remained with her over the years. It was one of the many ways she expressed her lively spirit and appreciation for simple joys. She also loved jewelry, shopping, and the excitement of finding a good deal. These small pleasures brought her happiness and reflected her practical yet spirited personality.

Lisa was also known for her love of cooking, and she took great pride in preparing meals for those she loved. Her Zupa was a favorite, and she often made enough to feed the whole neighborhood. Holiday meals were especially meaningful to her, and she was well known for her famous ham dressing served at Christmas dinner. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and generosity, where food was prepared with love and shared with family, friends, and neighbors alike.

She especially loved holidays, and Halloween held a special place among them. Lisa enjoyed the fun, spirit, and tradition that holidays brought, and she embraced each one with enthusiasm. Her home and heart were often filled with the joy of celebration, and she had a way of making special occasions feel memorable for everyone around her.

Lisa also had a deep affection for her German shepherds over the years, including Draco, Gunner, and her current companion, Dalton. Her love for her dogs was a reflection of her loyal and caring heart. Those who knew her understood that her pets were more than companions; they were part of her family and brought her comfort and happiness throughout the years.

Those who knew Lisa will remember her as a loving wife, devoted mother, caring sister, faithful friend, and compassionate soul. She will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, her strong work ethic, and the many ways she made life brighter for others. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
