Leon Ogle Sr. Obituary

Leon Ogle Sr., a lifelong member of the Columbus, Georgia community, passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on February 14, 1940 to James and Marie (Carter) Ogle. Leon's life was a testament to his fearless spirit, and his commitment to his family, friends, and many pursuits.
A man of great integrity and strength, Leon's journey through life was marked by the love he shared with his beloved wife, Rose Maree Ogle, who preceded him in death. Their storied romance began with a chance encounter while Rose was visiting home from Auburn University. Leon, conducting census work in her neighborhood, was greeted by Rose's warm smile when she answered the door. A fishing trip sealed their fate, and they went on to enjoy many years of devoted marriage, filled with love and shared faith.
Leon's role as a family man was central to his identity. He is survived by his loving children, Amaree Sebastian (John), Leon "Bubba" Ogle (Susan), and Trudy Underwood (Jeffrey). His legacy continues through his six grandchildren, Iain Sebastian (Masy), Rachel Sebastian, Jana Underwood, Joy Moore (Chase), Jewel Underwood (Jacob), and Savannah Ogle, and his great-grandchild, Adley Rose. Each family member benefited from Leon's presence at pivotal moments of their lives, countless activities and ball games were evidence of his love for his family.
His professional life was as colorful and varied as the man himself. Leon began his career as a referee for Fred Ward Promotion, a Pro Wrestling business  which was founded by his father-in-law Fred Ward. He transitioned into wrestling, captivating audiences as "The Hunter" and "The Masked Marvel". The "family business" centered around Wednesday nights at Municipal Auditorium and on Saturdays at the Sports Arena, with live broadcasts in the 1970s. Wrestling fans still talk about the excitement and how special those times were to them. This became a big part of Columbus culture for over 25 years. After hanging up his wrestling boots, Leon had a successful career in real estate at Flourney Calhoun and supported his son-in-law's business venture, Home Furnishings Plus.
Alongside his wife, he was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Church, which later became The Fort, under inspiring Pastor Matt Stephens.
Those who knew Leon would describe him as one of strong character and steadfast in his daily life and faith. He lived it out in every action and word, inspiring to those around him.  His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Public services will not be held. The family wishes to thank everyone for the love and support shown to them during this time.
