Larry "Smitty" Smith Obituary

Our dad will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was our hero, and his greatest joy and pride came from his family. He always showed unconditional love and was always sure to say “I love you”. Larry was a devoted father, son, brother, grandpap, great grandpap and uncle to many. Larry has loved ones in Heaven to welcome him home.

Larry Eugene Smith (Smitty) from Seale, Alabama, previously from Wellsburg, West Virginia passed away at Piedmont Northside Hospital on January 3, 2025. Larry was born on September 1, 1951, in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Virgil E. Smith (March 22, 2000) and Toleda G. Smith (October 16, 2012). In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother Jerry Michael Smith on June 24, 2002.

Surrounded by family, he found joy in the love of his children, Wayne A. Smith of Huntingdon TN, Reginia M. Keil and her husband David of Washington, PA, and Brian K. qqwa2QSmith and his wife Lee of Huntingdon, TN, his grandchildren Nicholas Keil, Christopher Zolman (Steffany), Megan Smith (Lindsey), Ivy Goolsby (Jonathan), Zach Smith (Tonya) and Joshua Zolman and his great grandchildren, Rayven Zolman, Owen Smith, Emmerson Smith and Addison Goolsby, who will continue to carry his memory forward with love and gratitude. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing his love will surround us always.

Larry was the oldest of 11 siblings, Loreta Smith of Follansbee WV, Linda Holmes of Forest VA, Gary Smith of Blacksburg SC, Tresa Thomas (Gary) of Wellsburg WV, Donna Henry of Beach Bottom WV, Terry Smith of Wheeling WV, Kathy Smith of Weirton WV, Harry (Hank) Smith of Wellsburg WV, and Carla Coburn (Jim) of Weirton WV.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date, in accordance with the family’s wishes.
