Katherine Ann Thompson Suehr, a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her, passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on March 28, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, Katherine was a cherished daughter of Noble and Emma Jean Thompson. Her early life in Columbus laid the foundation for a journey filled with love, learning, and the simple joys of family and literature.
She is survived by her son, Michael Suehr, and his wife, Samantha, who will forever treasure the unconditional love and support she provided. Katherine's loving spirit will also live on through her sister, Vicki Sue Thomas and her husband, Russell, and sister-in-law, Glenda Hilderbrand and her husband, Sam; grandchildren, Madison Suehr and Brandon Chandler (Morgan); as well as her great grandchildren, Harper Chandler and Brantlee Chandler. Her family was her pride, and their memories of her will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.
A former resident of Tega Cay, South Carolina, Katherine's presence in the community was marked by her passion for reading. Books were the vessels through which she traveled the world, explored new ideas, and sought comfort. Her love for the written word was infectious, and she could often be found engrossed in a novel or sharing her latest literary find with friends.
As we bid farewell to Katherine Ann Thompson Suehr, we reflect on a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Her journey on this earth may have concluded, but the stories she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the love she spread will endure. We take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as the pages of a beloved book are revisited time and again. Katherine's memory will be held in the hearts of those she touched forever.
