Judy W. Snead, a beacon of kindness and generosity, left this world on September 17, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on October 14, 1952, in Reynolds, Georgia, Judy's life was a testament to selflessness and compassion. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family in Phenix City, Alabama, where she passed away peacefully.
Judy's early life in Georgia laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she would become. Her journey led her to Phenix City, where she met and married the love of her life, James C. Snead, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. Judy's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, James; their children Joey Phillips, Stephanie Phillips Harris, James Snead Jr., and Teri Snead Nancel; her adored thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy; and her siblings Houston Steve Williams, Danny Robert Williams, Michael Lewis Williams, and Christina Williams Hayward, who shared in the journey of her life.
Though her family was her pride and joy, Judy's heart encompassed more than her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Randall Eugene Phillips, her parents, Houston Williams and Mary Alma Estes, and her sister, Joanne Hoyle, all of whom she held dear and remembered with love.
Professionally, Judy's work ethic was unparalleled. She spent years as a dedicated textile spinner at Fieldcrest Mills, where her diligence and attention to detail were evident. Later, she brought her compassionate spirit to New Horizons Mental Health, where she worked tirelessly to support those in need, her empathy and understanding making a lasting impact on many lives.
Judy's benevolence extended beyond her immediate circle. She was a steadfast supporter of charitable organizations such as the Shriners, St. Jude, and the ASPCA, making contributions that reflected her deep-seated belief in helping others. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she honored it through consistent church tithes and living by the principles of her belief.
Those who knew Judy were touched by her kind-hearted nature. She was the embodiment of selflessness, always placing others before herself. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Judy's presence was a comforting assurance to those around her, and her absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege to encounter her warm spirit.
