Joyce F McGilvary

Joyce F. McGilvary, a cherished and vibrant soul, passed away on September 13, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 81. Born on July 8, 1944, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Raiford and Grace Miller Farmer, whose memories she held close to her heart throughout her life.

Joyce's life was one marked by love, passion, and a spirit that could light up any room. She found her partner in life, Hamp McGilvary, and together they shared countless moments of joy and companionship. Joyce's family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her daughter, Tamara Sloane, her adored grandchildren, Sandy Kittrell, Brooke Kittrell, Chris Mcquinn, Joey Kittrell, Steven McGilvary, Brandi Johns, and Joseph McGilvary as well as numerous great grandchildren.

The loss of two of her children, Angie Kittrell and Steve McGilvary, was a profound sorrow for Joyce, yet her resilience in the face of such heartache was a testament to her enduring spirit. She was also preceded in death by her parents Raiford and Grace Farmer and her sisters, Monasue Truluck and Shirley Thaxton, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Joyce's professional life was marked by her commitment and dedication as a Service Assistant at Bellsouth and AT&T. Her work ethic and friendly demeanor made her not only a valuable employee but also a beloved colleague.

A true Atlanta Braves fan, Joyce's passion for the game was infectious. She enjoyed the thrill of the sport and the camaraderie it brought among fellow fans. Her love for word seek puzzles provided her not only with relaxation but also a way to keep her mind sharp and engaged. In her youth, Joyce's adventurous spirit shone brightly as she raced cars, a hobby that showcased her zest for life and her fearless nature.

Joyce's fondness for soap operas was more than a pastime; it was a daily ritual that brought her excitement and a sense of connection to the dramatic storylines she followed so loyally. 

Joyce F. McGilvary's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and an unwavering spirit that inspired all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive in the stories shared by her family and friends, who will continue to honor her legacy by living with the same passion and joy that she embodied every day. Joyce's life was a beautiful journey, and although she will be deeply missed, the impact she made on this world will never be forgotten.
