Joseph Ellis III, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at the age of 47. Born on December 30, 1976, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Joseph Ellis Jr. and Alberta Diggins-Cobb, Joseph grew up imbued with a sense of duty, resilience, and compassion that would define his life.
Joseph's early years in Georgia were marked by a close-knit family environment and a burgeoning interest in mechanics and the great outdoors. These passions naturally led him to a distinguished career in the United States Military, where he served with honor and distinction as a mechanic, specializing in the maintenance and repair of tanks and heavy tactical vehicles. His dedication to his craft ensured the safety and readiness of his fellow service members, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers.
After his military service, Joseph transitioned to civilian life with the same commitment and excellence that had characterized his time in uniform. He became a well-known auto mechanic in Killeen, Texas, as well as a barber, where his expertise and reliability made him a trusted figure in the community. Joseph's work ethic and warm personality endeared him to customers and colleagues alike.
Beyond his professional life, Joseph was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love for nature. He found solace and joy in fishing for bass and crappie in the tranquil waters around Texas. His collection of guns was a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and his enthusiasm for boar hunting.
Joseph's love for barbecuing was legendary among his friends and family. He relished the opportunity to gather loved ones around a grill, serving up mouthwatering dishes that were as much a feast for the soul as they were for the palate. These gatherings were a testament to his belief in the power of food to bring people together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Above all, Joseph was a man who cherished the time he spent with those he held dear. His generous spirit and innate ability to care for others left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Joseph's presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joseph is survived by a large group of loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives with the same kindness and generosity he exhibited every day. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
A graveside service will be held 10am E.T. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
