Jeffrey Wayne Thompson, a cherished husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on December 16, 1977, in Columbus, Georgia, Jeffrey's life was characterized by his quick wit, loving nature, and unwavering dedication to his family and faith.
Jeffrey is survived by his devoted spouse, April Thompson, and their five beloved children: Stephen Jeffrey, Madison Grace, Daniel Michael Dumlao, Joseph Gabriel, and Elijah Joshua. He also leaves behind his loving mother Elizabeth Ann Morgan and stepfather Jim Morgan; his four siblings: sister Christie Thompson Speed (Joshua), half sister Alissa Pate Hamilton, half brother Kevin Pate, step sister Shannon Marie Murray (Harry); and his sister-in-law, Misty Hubbard (Julian). Maternal grandmother, Mildred Elizabeth Godwin, mother-in-law, Donna Bradley (Carl), and father-in-law, Gregory Bush, along with numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, will also hold his memory in their hearts. Jeffrey is preceded in death by his father, Ricky Dale Thompson.
Jeffrey’s life was enriched by his professed love for Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior and his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. Jeffrey loved to laugh and cut up. He would get in the floor and wrestle with his boys, and teach them things that boys need to know. He loved watching his children play sports, watching SEC football (especially UGA), shooting guns with his boys, and play with remote control cars. Jeffrey loved Daddy/Daughter dates with his daughter and brushing her hair for her. Jeffrey loved his wife, April, so much. He loved telling people about how they met, the significance of their birthdays, and how she was an answer to prayer. Most importantly, Jeffrey would pray with his family every morning, and every night. He loved all of his family very much including his parents, grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends so much.
Jeffrey was indeed a Master Electrician with constant recognition amongst his peers, contractors, and customers for his ability to make electrical work look like art. He showed his intelligence by how fast he was able to install conduit, wire, and build services. Jeffrey witnessed to numerous people over the years, while helping them with their electrical needs. Even would do some jobs for free to bless individuals.
The last 6 years Jeffrey volunteered at Evangel Church in the Kids ministry. He loved the opportunity to get to share the love of Jesus with them. He would always do the dance moves with his son Joseph and encourage the other kids to have fun. Jeffrey came up with the best games for them to play. When he spoke, he held their attention.
Not only did he have a passion for kids ministry, but God gave Jeffrey the ability to witness to men on the construction site at work, and lead many of them to Christ.
Jeffrey was very passionate about everything he did. He raised his children to learn his work ethic and to have good integrity in all that they do.
A service to celebrate Jeffrey's life will be held at the Evangel Church on Tuesday, July 22, at 11 AM ET, with Pastor Paul Thomas and Pastor Bud Rupel officiating. Jeffrey's life was a testament to the power of love, humor, and faith, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Jeffrey's legacy is not merely in the lives he touched but also in the laughter he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the unwavering support he provided to his loved ones. As we say goodbye to Jeffrey Wayne Thompson, we do so with gratitude for the time we had with him and the countless memories that will continue to inspire and comfort us in the years to come.
