Jeanne K. Whitaker, 68, of Phenix City, AL passed away on June 21, 2022 in Columbus, Georgia.
Jeanne was born on February 10, 1954 in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of Harold Martin, Sr. and Imogene Martin
She worked at Chillicothe VA from 1972-1987 then transferred to Fort Benning as civilian medical clerk where she retired in 2006. She loved her grandchildren, was a big hockey fan of Columbus River Dragons and the former Columbus Cottonmouths, she was also a huge Ohio State Buckeyes football fan.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 27, 2022 at 12:00pm ET at Colonial Funeral Home with Chaplain Loretta Tolbert officiating. Internment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 3:00PM-5:00PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
She is survived by her spouse of 35 years James Whitaker; two daughters, Karissa Whitaker and Lee Ann Mefford; two grandchildren, James Mefford (Carolyn) and Caityln Mefford; and her nephew, Chris Martin. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Martin Sr. and Imogene Martin and one sister, Brenda Young.
