Jan Marvet Mims, age 81, a resident of Seale, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home at 4:00 pm ET with Rev. Scott Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 pm ET at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hyram Cemetery.
Mrs. Mims was born in Russell county, Alabama to the late Byron and Marjorie Euna McKenzie Rhodes. She worked as a successful hairdresser for 35 years, then became a project manager at Pratt Whitney until retirement. Among many of her interests, she most enjoyed horses especially Tennessee Walkers, being an award winning horseman she received numerous awards. In the 1970's she was "Mrs. Hospitality" while working for Shoney's as night manager. She was a longtime member of Edgewood Baptist Church and Ladonia Baptist Church. Most impotantly Mrs. Mims loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mims, Sr.
Surviving are her daughters, Julie Elver and Gina (David) Uren; 7 grandchildren, Zachary Elver, Will Elver, Jonathan Austin, McKenzie Killebrew, Calen Austin, Amber Adams and Brent Parsons; 11 great grandchildren.
