James W. "Buddy" Smith, 74, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A viewing will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM EST at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama.
Mr. Smith was born August 30, 1948 to the late, James R. Smith and Clora Lucille Smith in Columbus, Georgia. He was a jack of all trades, but was known for his craftsmanship and ability to make anything. He worked as a mechanic for many years, enjoyed building bicycles and decks. Mr. Smith loved yard sales, singing, music, and once wrote a song. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, June D. Smith; sisters, Clora Bell Smith, Martha Ann Ellis, and Vivian Lee Strickland; one brother, Ronnie Jean Smith.
Surviving are his two children, Lisa Schaetzer (Ronnie) and James Brian Smith; grandson, Jesse Schaetzer (Candice); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great- great-nieces, and great-great-nephews who lovingly knew him as "Uncle Bubba".
