James "Buddy" Clark, aged 83, of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on January 6, 1942, in Louisville, Alabama to Irby and Dora Clark, Buddy was a man whose life was defined by his devotion to his family, his work, and his capacity for joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Buddy is lovingly remembered by his spouse, Betty Clark, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. His legacy continues through his children, Debbie McKinley (Raymond), Dwayne Clark and Pete Gomez; his cherished grandchild, Ashley Cluck (David); and his siblings, Charles Clark (Barbara), Shirley Lester (Leamon), Patricia McDougal and sister-in-law Gail Clark. His life was also blessed by the presence of his beloved pets, including his faithful dog, Rascal, who predeceased him. Buddy was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry Clark, Randy Clark, and Barbara Ann Redden, who have welcomed him on the next stage of his journey.
Raised in the heart of Alabama, Buddy's early life was steeped in the values of family and hard work. He was a man of many talents, a true jack of all trades, whose hands could skillfully build furniture and whose heart could build a home full of warmth and laughter. His loved ones will remember him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Ashley.
Self-employed, Buddy had a long-standing professional relationship, contracting through Harvey Lumber and Econo, where his work ethic and dedication to excellence were unmatched.
Buddy's interests spanned the simple joys of life. He had a deep appreciation for Westerns, with TV shows like "Gunsmoke" and "Laramie" being among his favorites. An avid fan of Alabama football, he would often be found cheering on his team with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life.
