James Elwood Pierce

James Elwood "Jimmy" Pierce, 68 of Pittsview, AL died Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence 5209 Hwy 431, Pittsview, AL. A memorial service will be held at Silver Run Baptist Church Friday, April 19, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. est with Pastor Joe Morris officiating. 

Mr. Pierce was born Feb 6, 1956 in Alexandria, VA, son of the late Johnnie Edward Pierce, Sr. and Essie Lavada Pierce.  He had been medically retired for years, but worked at Walker Williams Lumber Company in Hatchechubbee, AL for a large part of his life.  He attended Silver Run Baptist Church when he could and he was often found sitting in his chair reading his Bible.  He loved cutting up with others wherever he went and never met a stranger. He had a way of putting a smile on ones face and even bringing out laughter.  

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnnie E. Pierce, Jerald "Jerry" Pierce and Jay E. Pierce; also his niece, Melissa Chastain Price.  

He is survived by his brother, Jeff E. Pierce and wife June with whom he had found a home for the past two years.  One brothe, Joey E. Pierce and wife Debbie of Smiths, AL;  two sisters, Judy E. Chastain and husband Benny of Seale, AL and Janice E. Peterson and husband Roy of Salem, AL; many nephews and nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces.  His contagious laughter will be greatly missed!  He will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord, loved his family and all people.  In addition, one who loved to wear bright colors; his favorite color being pink as he would say "Real men wear pink"!
