Homer Franklin Jr., age 77, of Salem, Alabama, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and service to his country and community.

Born on November 14, 1948, in Phenix City, Alabama, Homer was the son of Homer Franklin Sr. and Sarah Bernice Franklin. He grew up with the values of integrity, perseverance, and responsibility that would guide him throughout his life. Homer was a proud graduate of Central High School and later attended Auburn University, where he continued to build the foundation for a life marked by discipline, achievement, and commitment.

Homer served his country as a veteran, a role he carried with quiet pride and honor. After his military service, he went on to build a strong and respected career. He worked making blades for jets at Pratt Whitney, where his skill and dedication were appreciated. He later retired from Home Depot, where he served as a Regional Trainer. In that role, he shared his knowledge, leadership, and steady encouragement with others.

Those who knew Homer will remember him as a man of character, humility, and warmth. He was dependable, hardworking, and deeply loyal.

Homer was married to Debra Atkins Franklin for 56 years, a union built on love and enduring commitment. Together they shared a lifetime of memories, challenges, and blessings. He is survived by his spouse, Debra, his two children, Scott Franklin and Kristi Dawn Franklin and his grandson James Tyler Franklin. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in them.
