Helen Yancey Yonker, passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 56 in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia.
Born on June 28, 1968, Helen is survived by her three sons, Kevin Andrew Yonker, Michael Pitre, and Joseph Pitre, mother, Gloria Amerson, and was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Yancey.
Her eight siblings, Mary Yancey, Cynthia McCraey, Lamar Yancey, Larry Yancey, John L. Downs, Lee Downs, Ronnie Yancey, and Christopher Yancey, along with her cousin and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, will miss Helen's presence.
Helen's passion for life was evident in her love for her dogs, Junior and Little Bit, who were her constant companions. Her days were often spent enjoying their company and the simple pleasures of a life well-lived. Helen's interests reflected her love for the outdoors and the joy she found in the everyday moments spent with her beloved pets.
Helen was known for her unwavering dedication to her home and garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her plants and creating a place of beauty and tranquility. An avid bicycle rider, Helen's spirit of adventure and love for the outdoors were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her laughter and stories were a source of joy during the many gatherings with friends she so enjoyed.
Above all, Helen was a devoted mother whose support for her sons was as steadfast as it was gentle. Her guidance and love shaped their lives and will continue to be a guiding light for them.
