Heide L. Quezada, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted wife, passed
away on May 5th, 2026 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones; due to
complications from a severe stroke. She was born on August 13, 1942, in Hagenbuch, Germany,
where she spent her early years before a life defined by service to family, faithfulness to work,
and quiet strength.
In February 1967, Heide married Pedro “Pete” Quezada, a U.S. Army Military Police Officer
originally from Laredo, Mexico, while he was stationed in Eggenstein, Germany. Later that year,
the couple relocated to Fort Benning, Georgia, where they began building a life and raising their
growing family.
From 1967 to 1977, Heide worked at the AHP Medical Glove Factory on Brown Avenue in
Columbus, Georgia, dedicating ten years of service until the factory relocated to Mexico.
Throughout these years and beyond, she worked tirelessly in various roles to help support her
family.
In 1980, Heide began what would become a long and meaningful career as a legal assistant and
paralegal, working alongside her husband in his law practice. She remained devoted to the firm
from 1980 until 2012, when her husband passed away suddenly in February 2012, at his beloved
law office. Her commitment to both her profession and her husband’s legacy was unwavering.
Following his passing, Heide continued working, joining Publix Grocery Stores on Bradley
Park Drive in Columbus, Georgia, where she was employed from 2012 until March 2026.
Known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and resilience, Heide remained active and engaged
throughout her life.
Heide is survived by her children and their families:
Kirk Pietsch, of Germany, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
Patrick Quezada, of Lynn Haven, Florida, with grandchildren Mary, Chris, and William, and
many great-grandchildren;
Michael Quezada, of Arizona, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
Jennifer Tomblin, of Smiths Station, Alabama, with grandchildren TJ, Tanner, and Tucker
Tomblin, and many great-grandchildren;
Enrico Quezada, of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, with grandchildren Montana Kaylee Rose
Quezada of Smiths Station, Alabama, Tommy Quezada, and Timmy Quezada, both of Fort
Mitchell, Alabama.
She was especially devoted to her great-grandchildren, whom she adored deeply, including
Madilyn Ava Rose and Harleigh Raine, who live with their mother, Montana.
She took great joy in the lives her children built and warmly embraced those they loved. She
cherished each of her children’s spouses and significant others as part of her own family, holding
a special place in her heart for her daughter Jennifer Tomblin’s husband, Bobby Tomblin, and
for her son Enrico Quezada’s wife, Laura Michelle Quezada. Laura was especially dear to
her—loved as a daughter from the very beginning, a bond that grew deeply from the time they
met in March of 1996 and remained steadfast throughout the years.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama. In
accordance with her wishes, Heide L. Quezada will be cremated. Following cremation, her
remains will be interred beside her husband at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery , Fort Mitchell,
AL.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of gifts or monetary donations, flowers may be donated
through the funeral home.
Heide will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong work ethic, and a life lived
quietly but fully in service to those she loved.
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they
die.”
