Harold "Hoot" Britt Obituary

Harold Lee "Hoot" Britt, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Opelika, Alabama, at the age of 82. Born on February 22, 1942, in Wayne County, Kentucky, to the late Harold Edwing Britt and Mary Susan Roysdon, Hoot's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him.

Hoot proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a truck driver for Dolly Madison, where his gregarious nature made him a favorite among his colleagues and the many people he met along his routes.

Hoot was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Judy Carden Britt and Delaine Hazel Britt, who each shared in the adventure of his life. He is survived by his devoted children, Carol Cobb (Richie), David Britt (Terry), Steve Britt, Jennifer Crunkleton (Rodney), Leslie Baker (Jody), Laurie Adams (Brandon), and Kristen Whitten-Smith (Kyle Smith). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Johnathon Cobb (Kristin), Neil Crunkleton (Christina), Tanner Baker, Cole Baker, Ryan "Gage" Adams, Braden Adams, and great-grandchildren, Laurol Cobb and Walker Crunkleton.

Hoot's zest for life was evident in his many interests and hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved riding side by sides, camping in the great outdoors, and waiting patiently in the quiet woods for deer. His passion for stock car races was unmatched, and he could often be found cheering loudly from the stands, reveling in the thrill of the race.

Known for his extroverted personality, Hoot never met a stranger. He had the rare ability to make everyone feel like an old friend, and his warm, welcoming nature will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. His stories, often filled with humor and wit, will be retold and cherished by those who loved him.
