G. T. Simmons

Gaious Tebe (G.T.) Simmons 87, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at his home.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. est. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Wallace officiating.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. EST. at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Simmons was born September 1, 1936 in Enon, Alabama to the late Johnnie and Pollie Simmons.  Mr. Simmons served as a deacon at United Baptist Church.  He enjoyed wood working, Auburn football and his grandchildren.  He is retired from Wade Linen.  

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife Betty Simmons who he married on June 27, 1953 and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage; his children Vickie (Bryan) Sharpe; Lynn (Mike) McKenzie; Darlene (John) Bishop; and Danny Simmons;  grandchildren Jill Sharpe, Olivia Sharpe, Jonathan McKenzie, Sydney McKenzie, Kendall (Trevor) Bland, Tyler Bishop and Cheryl (Mark) Richards; great grandchildren Justin (Sarina) Renfroe,  Archer Richards and Walker Bland and great great grandchild Delilah Renfroe.  He is preceded in death by his sons William and Paul Simmons; a granddaughter Addison Richards and siblings Gwen Griswold, Steve Simmons and Anne Griffith.
