Douglas Mays, 79, of Phenix City, AL passed away on September 27, 2022 in Columbus, Georgia. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM ET at New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Phenix City, Alabama with Brother Brad McDaniel officiating.
Mr. Mays was born on September 18, 1943 to the late, Herbert Grady May and Willie Pearl Calhoun in Brundridge, Alabama. He was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship. Mr. Mays was a meat cutter by trade and worked at Piggly Wiggly, Big Star and Terry's Grocery. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes in his youth and always liked spending time in the woods hunting. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Travis Mays;and one sister, Shirley Brooker.
Surviving are his spouse Margaret Mays; three children, Katina Finney (James), Donna Crofutt (Jason Dykes), and Andy Smith; one brother, Donald Mays (Linda); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A special thanks to uncle Butch Brooker, niece Stacy Mays, and niece Christina Bowden for all their help the last few months.
