Doris K. Medlock, 97, passed away on January 24, 2021 while in the care of Columbus Hospice, Columbus, GA from complications associated with aging. Doris was born October 9, 1923 in Phenix City, AL where she lived her entire life.
Funeral service will be held 1:00pm ET Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home with Chaplain Dean Knipe officiating. Visitation will be held 11-1 pm ET Thursday January 28, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her father Floyd S. Knight and her mother Ethyl F. Knight. She had two brothers, James Knight, Eufaula, AL (deceased) and Charles Knight, Phenix City, AL. Doris had three children, Stephen E. Medlock, (Ginger) Gray, TN, Rodney F. Medlock, Phenix City, AL, and Kathy J. Tinsley, (Harry) Cataula, GA. Doda had four grandchildren, Kelly Medlock, Phenix City, AL, (deceased) Clay Medlock, (Jill) Bleeker, AL, Shannon Wilson (Angel) Smiths, AL, Toby Medlock, (Michelle); Columbus, GA, and great granddaughters, Taylor Medlock Foutz, (Adam), Madison, AL and Riley Kate Wilson, Smiths, AL; great grandson, Slayton Graham of Columbus, GA; and a nephew, Eddie Knight (Anna) of Phenix City, AL.
Doris graduated from Central High School in the class of 1942. She was a homemaker and stay at home mom while her children were growing up and became employed by CVCC as a Library Assistant until she retired. She was a member of Central Baptist Church for most of her active years. Due to a divided family she was able to diplomatically be a fan of both Alabama and Auburn football teams. During her active years her hobbies included cooking, sewing, canning vegetables, and ceramics.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by all family, extended family members, and her friends.
