Doris M. Garz, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024 at her home in Smiths Station, Alabama. Born on October 20, 1933, in Wisconsin, Doris's life was characterized by her love for her family and the simple joys of life.
Doris's grew up in Wisconsin and moved many times in her adult life as a military wife. Doris was married to Robert Laverne Garz for 67 years until his passing. She was Lutheran by faith.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her children, Keith Garz (his late wife Rebecca) of Baconton, GA, Shirley Davis (David) of Phenix City, AL, Kim Garz of Salem, AL, and Jason Garz (Tara) of Springfield, VA. Doris was a proud grandmother to Carla Evans (Will), Jennifer Garz (Marc), and Mia Garz. Her joy multiplied with the births of her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Conner (Tearra), Jacob Evans, Keri Young, and Nathain Young, and later, the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren, Braxon Conner, Brayden Conner, and Kaia Sellers. She is also survived by two brothers, Duane Ahola and Ronald Ahola. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, Emil Ahola and Ailie (Jarvi) Ahola, sister Shirley Paulus, and nephew Dennis Ahola.
Doris loved the outdoors. She enjoyed bird watching and kept a feeder to attract birds. She loved to bowl and was a member of numerous bowling leagues throughout the years.
