Deborah Simmons Obituary

Deborah Goodman Simmons, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Phenix City, Alabama. Born on August 29, 1952, in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Deborah was the cherished daughter of Elmer Louis "Pete" Goodman and Doris Louise Owens Goodman.

Deborah's life was one of dedication and service, as evidenced by her active membership in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She brought joy and comfort to many through her involvement and will be remembered for her unwavering support of veterans and their families.

Her work as a Winder Hand and Warper Tender at Eagle and Phenix Mills was more than a job; it was a reflection of her commitment to excellence and her belief in the value of hard work.

Outside of work, Deborah loved casino trips to Biloxi and playing bingo. She also attended Midway Baptist Church in Smiths Station, Alabama.

The love story between Deborah and Charles Simmons was one of true companionship and mutual respect. Though Charles preceded her in death, the bond they shared continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to witness it.

Deborah's family also included brother Bradley Goodman, her sister, Angie Goodman and her sister Carol Pelham who preceded her in death. Her nieces and nephews, Monica Renfroe (Randy), Casey Burns (Brittany), Sean Strickland (Jamie), Jeremy Strickland as well as several great nieces and nephews will remember her fondly.

As we prepare to bid farewell to Deborah, we invite friends and family to join us for Memorial Service on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST at Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen W. Ward ThD. officiating.

Deborah Goodman Simmons will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to flourish in the lives she touched.
