Christie Sasser Gebhardt

Christie Sasser Gebhardt, a cherished soul, passed away on January 5, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on March 6, 1960, in El Paso, Texas, Christie's vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Christie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she is survived by her loving son, Christopher McCloskey (Regina); her cherished grandchildren, Justin Addison (Whitney), Christopher McCloskey, Maylie Crutchfield, Madison McCloskey, and Dakota McCloskey; her adored great-grandchild, Laraine Addison; and her siblings, Michael Sasser (Janean), Dianna Sasser (Tripp), Naomi Sasser, and Tammy Carty (Troy) along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Christie's legacy is shaped by the loved ones who preceded her in death, including her two children, Dakota McCloskey and Nicole McCloskey, and her parents, Christopher Sasser and Billie Sanderson.

There was nothing Christie would rather do than fish. Her passion for fishing was matched only by her love for Gator football and the pride she had in her grandchildren. She was a great cook; the kids were drawn to her house anytime she had something cooking.

A Celebration of Life to honor Christie's memory will be held at a later date, providing family and friends the opportunity to gather and share the stories and memories that showcase force of a woman she was.
