Charles Redden Obituary

Charles Edwin Redden, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on November 17, 1955, in Langdale, Alabama, Chuck was a man of great character and joy, whose presence was a source of strength and happiness to all who knew him. He spent his final days surrounded by love in Salem, Alabama, before succumbing to cancer.

Chuck's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 37 years, Gloria Denise Redden, and a loving father to his daughter, Neshia Shavers, and her husband Nathan, as well as to his son, Adam Charles Redden. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Gregory S. Carden. Chuck's legacy extends to his adored grandchildren, Shelby, Natalie, and Nathan Shavers, and Jaden Redden, who will carry forward his spirit of kindness and perseverance.

Preceded in death by his parents, James Donald Redden and Martha Sue Sharp Parrish, his brother Donald Wayne Redden, his sister Donna Marie Redden, and his grandson Brandon Scott Claridy, Chuck is also survived by his brothers, Jeffery James Redding and his wife Donna, and Jody Parrish.

Chuck's commitment to his community was evident through his 26 years of dedicated service at Bibb Mills, where he earned recognition for his perfect attendance, a testament to his strong work ethic and reliability. After retiring from Bibb Mills, he continued to apply his skills as a technician at Buffalo Rock. His dedication to his country was equally commendable; he was a proud member of the VFW post #5797 in Phenix City and a life member of VFW post #5658 in Elberta, Alabama. His involvement in these organizations reflected his unwavering patriotism and his commitment to fellow veterans.

A man of many interests, Chuck found joy in the simplicity of life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, relishing the tranquility and challenge of the outdoors. His passion for Alabama football was well-known, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite team with the same fervor he brought to every aspect of his life. Music was another source of pleasure for Chuck; he enjoyed all genres, finding comfort and excitement in the melodies and rhythms that score our lives.

Chuck had a way of making everyday chores an adventure. He took particular delight in cutting grass on his mower, transforming a mundane task into a moment of peace and contemplation. His truck was another source of pride and joy; he spent countless hours working on it, ensuring it was always in top condition.

Described by those who knew him as interesting, passionate, and thoughtful, Chuck lived a life that was rich in experiences and relationships. He approached every day with a sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact on those around him. His interesting stories and thoughtful insights were a treasure to his family and friends, who will miss his passionate spirit deeply.

As we bid farewell to Chuck, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of love, service, and the simple pleasures that make our existence meaningful. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will always be a beacon of light in the lives of his family and friends.
