Charles Miller, 77, of Salem, Alabama, passed away on April 11, 2026.
Born in Gainesville, GA, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Irvin and Erverine Miller and brother of the late Miss Deborah Miller. Mr. Miller attended North Hall High School. Drafted and inducted in the United States Army on April 16, 1968. Honorably discharged April 16, 1970. Last duty station: Co B, 1st Bn, 28th Infantry, 1st Div., Ft. Riley, KS, 5th U.S. Army. Thereafter served in the Reserves.
His hobbies entailed fishing, hunting, and he had a green thumb for gardening and was an avid canner whom enjoyed the fruits of his labor throughout the year. Other passions were searching for arrowheads, boating, fixing up vehicles, refurbishing boats, and his beloved dogs, Amos, Peanut and Buddy. He enjoyed the tranquility and peace of walks in the country woods of Alabama. He was a hard worker with a pen always in pocket, with a pack of cigarettes close by. Career paths entailed working with public works, security guard, and highway and road construction in Atlanta and throughout Georgia.
He is survived by his children: Amy (Randy) Paden, Scottie (Tracy) Miller, and Christopher (Jenna) Miller. Grandchildren: Brieanna and Bailey Paden, Bradley (Kayla) Sadey, Jessica (Tommy) Morris, Alex, and Evelyn Miller. Great-grandchildren: Amelia, Braden, Gerald, Atlas, and Violet.
Surviving Extended family: Tyler Buford, Rebecca Buford, Bill Buford, Ashley Palmquist, grandchildren, nephews, and lifetime friends.
Our father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend to many will cherish the stories and laughter.
A Veteran Graveside Service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, April 23 at 9:30AM EST. Memorial donations can be made to Packages for Warriors - North Georgia Chapter or East Alabama Humane Society.
