Charles Wayne Brown, known affectionately as Wayne to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024 at his home in Crawford, Alabama. Wayne was born on July 4th, 1952 in Phenix City, Alabama. Wayne was a man whose life was as colorful and spirited as the fireworks that marked his entrance into the world. He was a beloved brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of many.
Wayne was a Jordan Vocational High School graduate who went onto pursue his passion for art at Auburn University where he earned his degree. His talent and creative spirit led him to become a self-employed artist; a vocation that allowed him to touch the lives of many with his beautiful works. One of his most notable achievements was the conversion of a 120 year-old store into an art studio in Crawford, Alabama.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Wayne was a man of many interests. He found joy in the simplicity of gardening and working in his yard.. A lover of history, he often spent many hours reading and expanding his knowledge of the past.
Intelligent, compassionate and interesting are only words that begin to describe Wayne. He had a mind that was as fertile as the gardens he tended and his conversations were sprinkled with intriguing facts and heartfelt opinions. His passion was evident in everything he did, from the stroke of his paint brush, to care in the restoring his beloved art studio.
Wayne leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory; his sister Joy Dombrowski (Edward), Boise, Idaho; Aunts: Lennie Russell (William), Kokomo, Indiana and Juanita Wynn, Phenix City, Alabama. Nieces and nephews: Shannon McCall (Chris), Kuna, Idaho, Erin Baird (Jason), Idaho City, Idaho, Taylor Rose, Boise, Idaho, Conner Rose, Boise, Idaho and many dear friends.
As we bid fairwell to Charles Brown, we celebrate a life with fervor and authenticity. His legacy is one of beauty and creativity, reflected in the art he created and the lives he touched. Wayne’s story is not one of an ending, but a vibrant tapestry of memories that will continue to comfort and inspire those that knew him.
His spirit will forever be a guiding light, encouraging us see the world not just as it, but as it could be, through the eyes of an artist and heart of a dreamer.
