Charles Autry Obituary

Charles Grant Autry, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 27, 2024, in Columbus, GA, at the age of 64. Born on January 20, 1960, in Fort Benning, GA, Charles was a man of integrity, warmth, and a deep love for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry "Diane" Autry, and their family of children and grandchildren who were the light of his life: Josh Adams (Amanda), Jesse Glover (Heather Johnson), Ashley Glover, and Zach Autry. Charles was a proud grandfather to Chase Sanes, Ryan Sanes, Carson Sanes, Jeremiah Sanes, Lily Skipper, Gracie Glover, Easton Adams, Brantley Glover, Christiana Crews, Juliy Glover, Cheyenne Crews, Sierra Crews-Austin, and Christian Nix. He is also remembered by his siblings, Dorrel Autry (Susie), Cynthia "Cindy" Money, and Eddie Autry (Tammy). Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Leon and Mary Alice Autry, his brother Thomas Eugene Autry, and his uncles Mitchell, Horace, and Gene Autry, as well as his aunt Blue Eyes.

Charles spent his professional life as a skilled carpenter, a trade that he mastered with precision and pride. His work was not just a job but a craft that he honed with dedication, leaving a legacy of beautiful structures and happy homeowners. His colleagues and clients respected him for his work ethic and the quality of his craftsmanship.

Beyond his professional life, Charles was an active member of the Ladonia Baptist Church, where he found a community of faith that supported him and his family. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and guidance.

An avid fisherman, Charles found solace and joy in the quiet moments by the water. He cherished these times not only for the sport but for the opportunity to be surrounded by nature's beauty and tranquility. However, what truly brought the most happiness to Charles was the time spent with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. Each moment with them was treasured, filled with laughter, stories, and the creation of lasting memories.

Charles's life will be celebrated in a service that reflects the love and respect he garnered throughout his life on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Ladonia Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. EST with Pastor Greg Hyche officiating.
